A Proven Track Record

An evaluation of the programs is an important element of the continued development and dissemination of telehealth. For this reason, more than 20 different studies have been carried out with our telehealth solution over the past ten years and published in a variety of trade journals or at scientific congresses. In this context, Bosch Telehealth Plus was not only evaluated in clinical studies mostly lead managed by leading university clinics; it was also road-tested within the context of more broad-based care research projects initiated by funding bodies such as the American Veteran’s Health Administration or the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

Apart from aiming to improve the quality of medical services, the focus is also on saving costs and resources, measured among several thousand patients over a number of years.

Some examples:

COPD

In a randomized controlled study conducted by University of Colorado Hospital, the health-related quality of life in patients with severe COPD was significantly improved and costs reduced after just 12 weeks using Bosch Telehealth.

Diabetes Mellitus

In a 4-year care research study conducted by the American Veteran’s Health Administration, the mortality risk for 387 diabetes patients in a home telehealth program dropped by around 31% (p=0.013) compared to a control group.

Chronic Heart Failure

In an advance evaluation of the ongoing Dutch TEHAF 2 study, telehealth significantly improved compliance or adherence to treatment with respect to limited fluid intake, daily weight controls, limited alcohol intake and physical activity, as well as condition-related knowledge.

Patients with Various Indications

In a routine data evaluation of the Care Coordination Home Telehealth Program carried out by the Veteran’s Health Administration, in which around two-thirds of patients used a Bosch solution, there was among other things a more than 25% reduction in the number of days spent in hospital among the more than 6,000 multi-morbid patients studied in the year following the introduction of the program compared to the year before.
